Q: How much would i get for about 7-9 grams Italian 925 silver necklace at a local pawn shop?
How much would i get for about 7-9 grams Italian 925 silver necklace at a local pawn shop?
A: Probably nothing. They are never in the market for silver. There is no harm in taking it in and asking though. You would be better off to sell it on ebay.
Q: a 925 silver necklace n a white gold plated necklace which is more exp n lasting? wats the difference?
A: A .925 silver necklace is made of sterling silver–92.5% silver and 7.5% alloy to strengthen the silver.
A white gold-plated necklaces is an incredibly thin layer of white gold that has been plated onto a base metal. The FTC (who regulates the jewelry industry in the U.S.) defines gold-plating as a transitory, temporary finish on a piece of jewelry. Normal wear will erode the gold plating exposing the base metal underneath.
All other things being equal, the .925 silver necklace would be worth more than the white-gold plated necklace.
Q: Who is buying back 925 silver necklaces and what are they worth?
A: The market rate for silver (.999) is $9.47 per ounce (US, Friday)
Sterling (.925) is therefore worth $9.47 X .925 = $8.76 per ounce.
But if you want to scrap out the metal, expect to get a lot less.
Q: What does the 925 hallmark on a silver necklace mean?
thank you
A: It stands for sterling silver, the purest form of silver that is useful for jewelry. Pure silver is too soft to make anything of use, so it is usually alloyed with other material, like copper.
92.5% of sterling silver is silver, the remaining 7.5% is another metal.
Q: my silver necklace says 925 on it. Whats that mean?
Is that good? is it even real?
A: It means it’s from sterling silver, and 925 means that the amount of silver is 92.5% and the rest is from copper or sometimes nickel.
So yes it’s real, and it’s quite good too. But if your neck turns a bit green, you’re sensitive for the copper or nickel.
Q: What does a .925 mean that is imprinted on a Sterling Silver Necklace made in Italy?
A: It means it’s .925 pure silver (there is .075 impurities in the silver).
Q: How to tell is my necklace is real silver?
I just bought a silver necklace it’s really heavy, and on the back it says ITALY 925 is it real or not?
A: it is real sterling silver. The 925 denotes that (92.5 % fine silver, the rest is copper to make it a bit harder).
Cheers

Q: Where can I find 925 Silver jewelry?
Hi everyone, I wanted to buy some 925 silver jewelry (earrings or a necklace). I’m buying it for a friend who is highly allergic to most metals; 925 silver is one of the few things she can wear. Any ideas?
…i prefer physical stores (not online ones) where I can actually go check out the jewelry in person. I know about Tiffany’s, but that’s a bit out of my price range…any recommendations would be much appreciated!!
A: A lot of department stores(JC Penny, Macy’s, Sears) have 925 silver, which is another way of saying “sterling silver” the way you know that it’s sterling, is if it has the “925″ engraved somewhere on the piece.

Q: does all silver jewelry have 925 on it?- bought a necklace and it has no hallmarks!?
ok, so i bought a necklace off ebay (i know i shouldnt have, lol. but its no real loss as i got it cheap)
the necklace looks quite old and the person i bought it from is just a person doing a house sale on the internet, not running some big ebay shop selling many of these necklaces.
it said it was real silver (its a silver bird, a bit like a humming bird, on a long chain, its wing opens to reveal a watch, which is working)
the problem is i got it and it doesnt have 925 on it which is what id expect wih a piece of silver. does that mean its fake? or does silver jewelry not ALWAYS have hallmarks on them?
A: By law, precious metal jewelry pieces need to be stamped/marked to identify the precious metal (silver for example) and the maker. It is possible that your necklace is not sterling silver. However, it is also possible that the maker didn’t stamp it (some artisans don’t bother to stamp their work), or that it had a 925 tag attached to it that had fallen during the year.
If you want to be sure about your necklace, take it to a nearby jewelry for evaluation.

Q: How can i clean a silver?
how can i clean a (925) silver like necklace …
how can i make it look shiny again… any tips?
A: Put Bicarbonate or baking soda in a glass of water and let your silver necklace be there for about 10 minutes.
Q: How Can i tell if my Necklace is real Silver?
I have a thick Necklace with a cross on the end, on the necklace itself, the numbers 925 are engraved, on the cross and the necklace the word italy is engraved, what does this mean, and is there other ways to tell if a necklace is real silver, if it isn’t pure silver is it a certain percentage
A: it is sterling silver. The 925 stand for 925 parts out of 1000 parts are solid silver, the rest is mostly copper to make the silver a bit harder. So yup, real silver.
