Q: I have a tahitian black pearl necklace. Can I wear it in the shower?

A: my brother worked in a jewlery store for 3 years so i asked him for you. he says that your black pearls as long as they r real (whether labrotory made or cultured naturally) can survive the water easily. but what really might not is the string, they could loosen up and catch nicks on them. quick tip to see if ur pearls r real (just in case) grab a pearl close by your mouth and very carefully scrape it with your teeth in a VERY careful way as if you were kinda biting them. u want to feel the surface if its like chalk then yay they r real. if not and its very smooth surface sorry they r fake n can go into and out of the shower.

I was looking to get my girlfriend a pearl necklace, preferably a black Tahitian pearl necklace. I was thinking of getting her an add-a-pearl type thing. If you have one in your state/area, I HIGHLY recommend you go there. I went there looking for a replacement wedding ring, and I was enammored with their service AND incredible selection. They also let/help you design your own jewelry if you happen to have something particular in mind.

Q: Is a single black pearl on a necklace a good gift for my girlfriend (22 years old) for valentines day.?

Q: Are higher number karat jewlery better than lower karats?
I bought my girl friend a Tahitian Pearl Necklace for Christmas and it has an 18 karat white gold chain. As a typical guy, I have not the slightest clue when it comes to jewelery.

A: 24 karat gold is pure gold. Anything less is mixed with another alloy. So an 18 karat necklace is really 75% pure gold 25% mixed with another alloy. White gold is usually mixed with nickel and zinc. Now 18 karat is still a good necklace. The higher the gold karat the softer the item is. Foe example, most rings are made of 14 karat b/c 24 karat rings would be too soft and could bend easily. Sounds like a very nice gift, I’m sure she;ll love it.

Q: Really mean mother. She’s so unappreciative. ?
My mom is so mean! She doesn’t appreciate my dad at all! He gets her anything she wants! She’s so mean to me, she says I’m selfish and says I’m stupid sometimes. I got this scar on my elbow that was infected and is as I type and I told her and she said, “oh honey, it really doesn’t matter and it’s not important.” but then she had to fix her nose twice, get lypo-suction, and she gets her hair done at least three times a week. Then she was calling me fat because she said I was the same clothing size as her and, no way! She’s 155 lbs. and I’m 94 lbs. I’m a size twelve in childrens’ sizes and she’s like a 6-7 womens’. I just found that so offensive! Then she’s always racist to people, she is caucasian, it’s really rude because I’m half asian. Then she always threaten to divorce my dad and he gets sad so he has to buy her more stuff. It was recently her birthday and my dad got her, expensive imported tea, a Japanese tea set with and expensive tray, Tahitian pearl earrings, necklace and ring, and clothes. Everyone says how she’s so lucky but she’s so unappreciative and selfish. She’s really not a nice person and she thinks to highly of herself. She never really apologizes to me or is really nice to me. She only buys me stuff which doesn’t help. I tell her to stop, but she just buys me more stuff. What should I do? I really don’t like her. I’m still nice to her though.

A: You can’t change who your mother is. The only thing you can do is help your father realize what kind of woman your mother is and what kind of wife she is. The ball is actually in your father’s court. He should stop showering her with gifts and see how long she will stay “calm” (or as calm as she has been until now). They should get some marriage counseling, or your mother should see a psychiatrist. Just make sure never to become her and make your dad see the light… your mother is manipulative and may always be that way.

Mom and i have same day birthday. :-) I want to buy something really special and adorable for her. Jewelry as i consider would be the best.

A: The first and last necklace are a better choice because they’re often noticed first, unlike earrings, which can get hidden behind hair

The middle one (the earrings) are too ridiculously big and not worth the price in my opinion

The White Cultured Freshwater Pearl Necklace (the last one) is lovely. I can totally imagine a mother wearing a pearl necklace at a wedding! or any formal occasion for that matter

But yeah, whatever you choose, congratulations on your first salary! And happy early birthday to both mother and daughter!
