Read and learn more about tahitian pearl necklace at everyones favorite necklace website Cheap Necklaces

Q: I have a tahitian black pearl necklace. Can I wear it in the shower?

A: my brother worked in a jewlery store for 3 years so i asked him for you. he says that your black pearls as long as they r real (whether labrotory made or cultured naturally) can survive the water easily. but what really might not is the string, they could loosen up and catch nicks on them. quick tip to see if ur pearls r real (just in case) grab a pearl close by your mouth and very carefully scrape it with your teeth in a VERY careful way as if you were kinda biting them. u want to feel the surface if its like chalk then yay they r real. if not and its very smooth surface sorry they r fake n can go into and out of the shower.

Q: Pearl necklace buying advice. Reputable websites?
I was looking to get my girlfriend a pearl necklace, preferably a black Tahitian pearl necklace. I was thinking of getting her an add-a-pearl type thing. I was wondering if the ladies here tonight can lead me to a great place to buy jewelry online? Not a cheap, chinsy direct-from-china place, but a website that has quality stuff. The website I buy from gets best answer. In lieu of anyone providing me with a website, best “pearl necklace” comment will be chosen.

A: This place, I kid you not, and despite what you might think is the BEST place to buy jewelry, and the owner (tom shane) travels to tahiti to hand select his tahitian pearls. (good choice, by the way, I LOVE black tahitian pearls). The salesmen are not paid on commision and they’re SO helpful, that if you’re looking for something they don’t actually have, they’ll tell you exactly where the best place is to find one. If you have one in your state/area, I HIGHLY recommend you go there. I went there looking for a replacement wedding ring, and I was enammored with their service AND incredible selection. They also let/help you design your own jewelry if you happen to have something particular in mind.

Their prices are EXTREMELY reasonable, too. Try it out.

http://www.shaneco.com/

Q: Is a single black pearl on a necklace a good gift for my girlfriend (22 years old) for valentines day.?
I am looking at this one and would like to know if you girls out there would be happy to receive this as a gift…..or should a just stick with a diamond pendant. THANKS

Here’s a link of one I was looking at. http://benbridge.com/bb_store/catalog/Tahitian-South-Sea-cultured-pearl-necklace-14K-p-10310.html

A: Why don’t you buy a necklace with a heart pendant. A heart design is very romantic for Valentine’s Day because it is the universal symbol of love.

Q: what is the most beautiful stunning or substantial piece of jewlery that u have?
and does any one have or know anyone that has a gold colored tahitian pearl necklace? i know someone that has one its very pretty

A: My five plastic skull bracelets are currently my most prized possession (no joke)…

I wear them all year.

Q: Are higher number karat jewlery better than lower karats?
I bought my girl friend a Tahitian Pearl Necklace for Christmas and it has an 18 karat white gold chain. As a typical guy, I have not the slightest clue when it comes to jewelery.

Thanks

A: 24 karat gold is pure gold. Anything less is mixed with another alloy. So an 18 karat necklace is really 75% pure gold 25% mixed with another alloy. White gold is usually mixed with nickel and zinc. Now 18 karat is still a good necklace. The higher the gold karat the softer the item is. Foe example, most rings are made of 14 karat b/c 24 karat rings would be too soft and could bend easily. Sounds like a very nice gift, I’m sure she;ll love it.

Q: Can you find me a short sleeve top?
i’m wearing tahitian pearl necklace with it and khaki bermuda shorts.
thanks sooo much! :O)

A: Jcpenny..or Old Navy

Q: what is the most beautiful or amazing or stunning piece of jewlery you own?
and btw does anyone have a 30 inch gold colored pearl ( the pearls are a gold color i didnt know that pearls could be gold colored i only thought they where white or black!) tahitian necklace? or know someone that has one? i know someone that has one its very beautiful
hey nikki_sep stop stalking me!! your scary! yeah and ur ring sucks
hey nikki_sep stop stalking me!! your scary! yeah and ur ring sucks

A: Are you serious??? You realize youre talking to people that shop at the 99cents store?

Q: Really mean mother. She’s so unappreciative. ?
My mom is so mean! She doesn’t appreciate my dad at all! He gets her anything she wants! She’s so mean to me, she says I’m selfish and says I’m stupid sometimes. I got this scar on my elbow that was infected and is as I type and I told her and she said, “oh honey, it really doesn’t matter and it’s not important.” but then she had to fix her nose twice, get lypo-suction, and she gets her hair done at least three times a week. Then she was calling me fat because she said I was the same clothing size as her and, no way! She’s 155 lbs. and I’m 94 lbs. I’m a size twelve in childrens’ sizes and she’s like a 6-7 womens’. I just found that so offensive! Then she’s always racist to people, she is caucasian, it’s really rude because I’m half asian. Then she always threaten to divorce my dad and he gets sad so he has to buy her more stuff. It was recently her birthday and my dad got her, expensive imported tea, a Japanese tea set with and expensive tray, Tahitian pearl earrings, necklace and ring, and clothes. Everyone says how she’s so lucky but she’s so unappreciative and selfish. She’s really not a nice person and she thinks to highly of herself. She never really apologizes to me or is really nice to me. She only buys me stuff which doesn’t help. I tell her to stop, but she just buys me more stuff. What should I do? I really don’t like her. I’m still nice to her though.

A: You can’t change who your mother is. The only thing you can do is help your father realize what kind of woman your mother is and what kind of wife she is. The ball is actually in your father’s court. He should stop showering her with gifts and see how long she will stay “calm” (or as calm as she has been until now). They should get some marriage counseling, or your mother should see a psychiatrist. Just make sure never to become her and make your dad see the light… your mother is manipulative and may always be that way.

Q: Which one to buy? it is for mom’s birthday.?
Mom and i have same day birthday. I want to buy something really special and adorable for her. Jewelry as i consider would be the best.
I found this website when browsing yahoo answer, they have pink tag sales so the price is quite fair.

http://www.shecypearljewelry.com/pearl-necklace-jewelry/white-freshwater-pearl-necklace-100D-FWR88.html

don’t worry, i can afford it… with my first salary…

A: The first and last necklace are a better choice because they’re often noticed first, unlike earrings, which can get hidden behind hair

The middle one (the earrings) are too ridiculously big and not worth the price in my opinion

The White Cultured Freshwater Pearl Necklace (the last one) is lovely. I can totally imagine a mother wearing a pearl necklace at a wedding! or any formal occasion for that matter

But yeah, whatever you choose, congratulations on your first salary! And happy early birthday to both mother and daughter!

Q: Which Queen wore a massive, multi-string pearl necklace (with choker)? Does anyone have this image/picture?
I have a memory of seeing a picture (photo?) of one of the queens of England (I assume it was a queen of England) that showed her wearing a multi-strand pearl necklace(s) that started as a choker and continued down to cover most of her chest. I think it had a broach in the middle causing the effect to be that of a rounded “w” on her chest. It had to be made up of dozens of strands of pearls but I’m not sure.

If anyone has a link to an image of it they can provide and/or knows which queen wore it, I’d be much appreciative.

A: It’s probably Queen Elizabeth I you’re thinking of; but Queen Alexandra always wore chokers and high necks due to her self-consciousness about a scar.
“Princess Alexandra of Denmark (1 December 1844–20 November 1925), later Queen Alexandra, was the Queen Consort of King Edward VII of the United Kingdom.”

http://www.globaladjustments.com/gif/jewlry2.jpg

Q: Where can I find a white multi-strand cascading pearl-like necklace? The strands are clear (illusion).?
Can’t find one using any search engines.

A: google
eBay

Q: Pearl necklace for mom?
check out the link and let me know if you like the necklace.
We are buying it for our moms birthday…

A: Lovely…does Mom like this kind of thing or are you planning to borrow it?

Q: Which necklace should I buy for my mum?
My mother likes multistrand pearl necklaces. Check out the links below and let me know which one you like better
http://www.bluearthjewelry.com/products/multi-strand-silver-white-pearl-necklace or http://www.bluearthjewelry.com/products/three-strand-iridescent-black-coin-pearl-necklace

A: How nice that you’re buying something so pretty for your mom! Personally, I prefer the first one – it’s more feminine and not quite as “heavy” as the first one… I’m sure she’ll be happy with either one though1

Q: Can you please help me find this Aldo necklace?? =(?
A week or two ago I went to the outlet mall and I went into Aldo. I didn’t have money to buy it then, but I saw a BEAUTIFUL necklace there!! I’ve already gone back, I’ve gone to another mall, looked online and even had the guy at the outlet look through all the catalogs and I can’t find that necklace anywhere anymore!! =(( I want it so bad.. I don’t usually just have an urge to buy something I see, but I really want this necklace. …It was a multi-chain necklace with pearls and chains and it had anchors and ship steering wheels on it.. It’s supposed to have a matching bracelet, but they just took that off the site, too.. =(
If you can find it by some miracle online or if you have it and are willing to sell it, I’ll love you forever!! Thanks in advance..

A: These are kind of similar to what you described:

but dang im sorry i can’t find one like that anywhere! It sounds really cute too

Q: I need your opinion on what you think of this outfit? Ten points to most helpful answer. Thanks a ton!?
I went to the mall today, and got a few things, and put an outfit together from the things I bought. I would love to know what you think of this outfit that I put together. I would like your opinion on the overall outfit, would like to know if the pearl necklace looks good tucked in or out, and also please state any changes you think I should make to make this outfit more fashion appropriate. A multi-layered pearl necklace or just a single pearl necklace? Oh any by the way, i’m wearing skinnies with this outfit. Thank you very much.

http://clubmonaco.com/122009/women_musthaves_3.asp
(its the fifth item to the right)

THANKS A LOT!

oh and by the way, i’m only 19, so i don’t know whether or not this outfit is too mature for me.

A: I love it!
I think its classic, maybe Jacky o mixed with upper-east-sider. pearls are best shown off, so out front and center
of course i don’t know how it looks on but from my view the pants look a little high
maybe lower since your age? if that’s not the case, and you end up thinking you look a little too mature, try distressed jeans with the outfit (i would stay with a dark wash).
other than that, beautiful classy outfit!

Q: Guys + Girls; So I’m going to a party on Saturday night…?
And there is bound to be some super-hotties
I need your help!

1) Should I wear this? Advice? Anything you would change? [and yes, I do have these clothes]

2) And How should I flirt? Any tips?

A: A super sexy outfit! I say wear it!

Just be aware of the douchb*gs that just want you for your looks though!

Have a fun time!

Q: Do you think this would make a good prom dress?
http://www.asos.com/Aqua-Couture/Aqua-Couture-Strappy-Mini-Balloon-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=515875&cid=5186&clr=Lime&sh=0&pge=24&pgesize=564&sort=_None

either coral or gray.. though i am thinking the gray, with a long multi row pearl necklace, as i think the coral may wash me out as i’m pale.

thanks to all that have given their opinion

A: love it!!!

i prefer the coral tho

Q: What do you think of my first day of school outfit?
Well, I’m actually going to wear it as a second day of school outfit, since no one cares what you wear the first day of school(they’re too concerned on what THEY’RE wearing)

Most of these things are just similar to what I have (like the jewelry). A lot of the jewelry I made myself, and are in lime green and light blue, not silver and black, but they are very similar styled to the ones in the link. Also, the shoes are in black and white, rather than red and black.

Please answer!
Thanks!!
The v-neck is in white
One tank top is in light blue
One tank top is in lime green
Sorry, the colors didn’t show up on the link!

A: REALLY cute.I think the outfitt has just about right of dressy and causal mixed together. It is grown up,yet not to grown up.The lacy cami is a nice touch. And the sneakers mellow it down a little.Good work!!Be careful with that ring though,if u lose it at school, that would be SO bad!!

Q: Advice for a multi-era party outfit!?
My aunt planned an awesome over the hill b-day party for my uncle and deemed it a generational party! We are required to dress up (fun!) and we can choose are 50’s, 60’s or 70’s. I have options from all 3. I dont want to do a gogo because alot of girls are, and i dont want to be a hippie for the same reason. Here are my options:

50’s – mini poodle skirt, sweater, bobby socks and mary janes.
Reason to wear it: Its cute and so fun!
Reasons not too: I wore it for halloween last year and its kinda cheating.

60’s- original, adorable dress made by my late grandma. Worn by my aunts. Will be worn with flats, white gloves and a pearl necklace.
Reasons to wear it: Family heirloom!
Reasons not too: kinda frumpy, doesn’t really say “party!”

Reasons to wear it: Fabulous!
Reasons not too: no reason! it fits perfectly! But the others are great too.

and then brown belt with peace sign buckel

with white vans.

How’s it sound?

A: its sounds very cute…but i think that flats will look better with the skinny jeans =)

Q: Are these girly? If not, what style?
If not what would you call them?
http://www.target.com/5-Chain-Sunburst-Bracelet-Goldtone/dp/B002DUC6GG/ref=sc_iw_r_1_0/176-0972036-9100539

I know labels suck and all but i really want your honest opinion

Plus imagine wearing a brown dress with one of those?

A: they are not girly they are really pretty and would look good with a brown dress

Q: How to keep up with TRENDS?
Can anyone give me some advice please on how to KEEP up with the trends and be one of the FIRST instead of the last?

For example, I saved all this money 2 buy a louis vuitton multi-color pochette, and now there out. I bought a bunch of lip gloss and now people arent wearing it as much. I got uggs, juicy jackets, etc and now people arent wearing theem as much. I bought a pearl necklace and braclet yet pearls also seem 2 be out.

I’m not saying NO ONE wears this stuff but its not as hot as it was a few years even a year ago, yet i didnt have the $ at the time 2 buy it.

So what my main ?’s are is-how can i be on top of trends rather then the last 2 have everything. also, what are some items(clothes, makeup, purses, shoes, etc) that will NOT go out of style?
Please no rude answers. I am really upset about the amount of hours i spent babysitting and working only too see my splurges go to waste.

A: wear what you love! dont wear it because its ‘in style’! find and create a personal style. What i like to do is keep the trends that go out because they usually come back in!!! i find that if you only really buy one “trendy” item per year, you still look in style but you dont blow all your cash! hope i helped.

Q: Do you think I’m a spoiled brat, I’m SOOO MAD!?
Okay, so today is my birthday, my sweet 16 to be exact, and all I got was a fricken iPhone, a new pare of Ugs, $600, a new apple laptop, a new pearl necklace, a diamond ring, and a few designer bags (Coach, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Juicy Coture)! What can I do to get my parents to give me more money and more stuff becasue quite frankly I’m mad and my parents keep calling me a spoiled brat!!!!
I’m not a troll I’m a pretty princess you freak.

Read and learn more about pearl necklace set at everyones favorite necklace website Cheap Necklaces

Q: Pearl Necklace?
My Mom would like to purchase a nice grey pearl necklace, bracelet set. What should she look for when buying a real pearl set? How can she tell the difference between stained pearls and real freshwater pearls? What are the best places to buy from in Minnesota or on the web? Any and all suggestions are appreciated!!

A: Genuine pearls usually have tiny bumps in them. Putting a bit of vinegar on a genuine pearl will make it bubble. The nacre in pearls which is calcium carbonate, reacts to vinegar by producing bubbles. Fake pearls do not react to vinegar.

Another way to test is to rub the pearl gently against your teeth. If it feels sandy, it’s real.

Sorry, but I don’t know anything about Minnesota, and I don’t know how you’d guarantee the real deal by purchasing them online, but I hope the info I did provide helps.

Q: I have a pearl necklace set (earrings necklace a& bracelet) it is brand new. Any ideas where I could sell it?

A: I’m assuming real pearls. As people have said: eBay etc. however a lot of jewellers buy jewellery, however they will sell it second hand so to make a mark up (usually 3 x the buying price) so they’ll offer you a price way below its value.

If you go down this route do a lot of research first as the offers can vary widely! Also don’t ask them to value them, ask for how much they’ll buy them off you for – big difference.

Although most places won’t buy earings as they can’t sell them second hand, even if you haven’t worn them.

However your best bet (if you can get hold of the receipt) is to return it.

Good luck!

Q: I’m looking for a set of a pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings?
I’m looking for a set of a pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings that can be purchased online. I’m turning seventeen and my grandmother has offered to buy me a set as a gift..So I’m looking for a classic and tasteful set (moderately priced)
Thank you♥

A: Difficult to buy online as the quality will be difficult to determine. Moriarty’s Gem Art travels and buys from the pearl farms in Hong Kong. Fine necklaces from $200-$400 depending on the size from 7mm to 9 mm. You can make the whole set for $300 to $500. Would suggest a double strand for the bracelet. Web site is moregems.com but I dont think they show pearls other than Black Tahitians. you can call 1-800-348-4499 and talk to Steve Tuesday-Saturday

Q: Would my girlfriend like this pearl necklace set(and no I don’t mean that sexually)?
http://www.mikimotoamerica.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=M&Product_Code=U70118VS1G_PES701VSG&Category_Code=pr

For Christmas, I mean.
She dresses traditionally but I’ve never seen her wear pearl jewellery.
She is almost 20.

A: Its beautiful, I bet she will like it! Have a nice occasion!!!

Q: How much would you pay for a pearl necklace?
I have a set but they were my Great Grandmothers so obviously I don’t want to wear them incase they get lost or damaged. I want to buy a nice pearl necklace & a set of earings. How much should I expect to pay?
Is this the sort of thing I should ask my dad to buy me or something I can afford myself?
How is that dirty=/ ?

A: There are lots of pearl shapes (ROUND PEARLS, OFF-ROUND PEARLS, OVAL PEARLS, BUTTON PEARLS, BIWA PEARLS, etc…) and types (BAROQUE, JAPANESE, FRESHWATER, etc…). Price depends on its quality and background. A good pearl necklace is not very cheap from $100 to $ 1000.00 or more.

Q: Where can i sell my pearl necklace/earring/bracelet set?
they are cultured pearls about 3/4 i believe they where a gift and i hate pearls and currently looking for their paper work

A: Ebay is the safest places right now. Signing up is free. check them out.
mx

Q: I bought a pearl SET. Can I return a necklace to the and keep the earrings?
I bought it from claire’s accesories. I know they don’t return earrings but can I return the neclace on its own.

A: generally you have to return the set as a whole earrings and all or they won’t take it back.

Q: Is it ok to wear a pearl bracelet with a crystal necklace to prom?
I want to buy a cute pearl bracelet I found at claire’s and my prom dress is aqua or “sea foam green” with sequins of the same color. I also have silver shoes and a silver sparkly purse. Or should I just get the pearl set for necklace and bracelet? would that look weird with my dress? prom is saturday so please help a.s.a.p

A: Pearls with pearls, or no pearls at all. But I am an old fogey.

Q: Anybody interested in high quality pearl necklace with cheap price?
I would like to sell Japanese Hanadama Pearl Necklace and Earring set with certificate from Pearl Science Laboratory of Japan, the item has been listed on ebay store for long time but still can not sell it out, my price is cheaper than when I bought from supplier in Japan, I want to close my ebay store as soon as possible, I supposed to sell high quality pearls, but people always complain it’s expensive than buying from China, it’s not good business for me. Thank you.

A: of course, and i just got them from www golden-seller com,i like the style, and the price is not very high,i think u can accept too,pls try

Q: Are there alternative ways to strand a pearl necklace?
I had my set for about a year and they broke apart. I had them restrung twice and they just broke again at one of the knots! Is there another way – a stronger way- to strand pearls while still keeping them from rubbing against each other? I only wear them to work and take them off right away and I am always very gentle. Any ideas? Thanks.

A: I suppose you had them strung on silk? There is a nylon thread available that is stronger, it can be knotted as well. There is also professional jewelry wire available. It has a number of micro wires twisted together and then coated with nylon. This would be the strongest possibility, but you cannot knot it. You could have different little beads threaded in between the pearls to keep them from rubbing. That depends a bit on the quality of the pearls and which look you like.
Cheers

Q: Narrowed it down to either a necklace or a Ring?
Should I buy my girlfriend a ring or a necklace. I really want to spend 600$ on a flashy diamond ring. We have been together for 2.5 years. I have already bought her a pearl set, tiffanys heart necklace, and a nice bracelet , + a jewlery box that is very nice too. What you think? I’m not asking her to marry me, but I want to get her a ring!

A: if you’re not asking her you marry you then i definately would not buy a diamond ring. right time she sees it she’s gonna think you’re gonna propose. bad idea. in fact, i would probably bypass the idea of a ring at all. i’d save that first ring purchase for the engagement ring. it’ll make it that much more special. so i guess i’m saying go for the necklace. i’d probably pick out something that she can wear everyday. that way she can have more opportunities to show it off!

Q: Cheap place to buy Sterling Silver 5 5-6mm Genuine Freshwater Cultured White Pearl Necklace…?
…Bracelet & Stud Earrings Set
Where can I find a great deal online for Sterling Silver 5 5-6mm Genuine Freshwater Cultured White Pearl Necklace Bracelet & Stud Earrings Set

A: Sterling Silver 5.5-6mm Genuine Freshwater Cultured White Pearl Necklace Bracelet & Stud Earrings Set

Price: $9.99
You Save: $40.01 (80%)

Q: Is it ok to give my bridesmaids a pearl jewerly set? Or should I get soming else?
I have four bridesmaids. These are sets with earings necklace and a bracelet.
hehe something*

A: Can I be in your wedding??

Very nice gifts, I’m sure they will love them.

Congratulations

Q: how can i set a pearl without drilling it?
I have a small freshwater pearl that i got for Christmas from my boyfrind and I want to make it a necklace or a ring. I don’t want to drill because that can break the pearl. Also, I’m on a budget. Please help me!

A: There are very few ways to set a pearl without drilling it. A pearl is too fragile to be set like a diamond. Setting an undrilled pearl usually means building a piece around the pearl.

The best and least expensive way to set the pearl would be to wrap it with wire. Check the example here: http://www.pearlparadise.com/detail.aspx?ID=1972
The pearl is undrilled and the setting is simply 14k wire that was hand-twisted to hold the pearl securely.

Don’t use any sort of glue as this may damage the nacre of the pearl.

Q: What is the best and safest way to clean an old pearl necklace?
I have some jewelry that belonged to my great grandmother. There is a pearl necklace with what appears to be a turquoise clasp. What is the best and safest way to clean this? My cousin is getting married soon and is looking for a set of pearls to wear. I thought this would be sweet for her…old, borrowed AND blue

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=323630&id=772035401&saved#/photo.php?pid=10835515&id=772035401

A: Though Blitz and The Pearl Doctor both sell specialized solutions for cleaning pearls, you can also use a very delicate soap, like Ivory Flakes. Stay away from harsh chemicals that are ammonia based or an ultra sound machine. I’ve inherited and ruined some strands with improper care and cleaning, but have found solutions made for cleaning pearls do work, but so do Ivory flakes fully dissolved in warm water, soaking and using a soft cloth to gently remove body oils and accumulated gunk. If there is dirt inside the holes, use a toothpick to gently extracate it (dampened in the soap flakes). I gently wipe my remaining stands of pearls with a similarly treated cloth after every time I wear them to keep the body oils and dirt from accumulating, too. What a wonderful piece of family history to include in your cousin’s wedding.

Q: how can I tell people we sell the good price pearl necklaces(jewelry) from China?
We have pearl farm that we have good price for pearl jewelry,http://www.pearl-necklaces-jewelry.com ,but how can I tell our foreign customer we sell the good price and quality pearls products?Thank you for your suggestion

A: Get an ebay store and quit spamming here.

Q: Questions about pearl jewelry, necklaces?
I recently got some endless pearls and they say i need to wear them for a while so they hang better, why is that? how should i wear them initially? What is knotted and unknotted?

A: Sometimes the stringing is stiff & needs to be worn several times before it kind of breaks in & hang well from your neck.
There are several ways you can wear them…double or triple the loop around your neck depending on the length so they look layered, or just hang over a plain dark colored blouse, or hang it , then gather the end to make a knot (make the knot look like a pendant), leaving a looped end around 3-4 inches long. Pearl necklaces are one of the most elegant, versatile accessories you can have. if you care for them well, you will be able to use them for a long time. It’s a classic any fashionable woman should have in their collection.

Q: Are you AWARE of what jewelry stores are charging for pearl necklaces these days?
I was under the impression that they were free……

A: If they are chargind now a days,I’m keepin my oyster shut!…xxx

Q: Who knows does www.hotpenpromotion.com has real pearl necklaces?
This company(http://www.hotpenpromotion.com) has so many pearl necklaces jewelry, who knows is this a freshwater pearl or immitation ones?
There is a answer on the website to explain how to distinguish the fake pearl necklaces http://www.hotpenpromotion.com/profile.html

A: i wouldnt trust the site

Q: Can a bride and bridesmaids all wear pearl necklaces and earrings?
I want to wear pearl jewellery, and would like all the bridesmaids and flowergirls to as well.I am just wondering if this is ok,and can they all look the same or does mine have to be slightly different then the others?

A: In my opinion, pearls are always elegant and beautiful for a wedding. If you want to have your bridesmaids use pearls that should be great! And remember that , in the end, it’s your wedding! so you can do as you please! Just enjoy it!
Good Luck and congrats!

Q: I used jewelry polish on my pearl necklace and it left the pearls looking dull. How can I make them shiny?
I know that you aren’t supposed to use chemicals on pearls now…unfortunatly I learned the hard way…Please help!!!
I dont think that jewelry polish would help…thats what messed them up in the 1st place.

A: You need to be REALLY careful when cleaning pearls because they are very delicate.

•Your pearls will stay cleaner if you put them on after you’ve applied your makeup and perfume.

•Be sure to take off your pearl rings before you apply hand and body creams.
•Wipe your pearls with a soft, lint-free cloth as soon as you take them off. The cloth can be dampened with water or it can be dry. If damp, allow the pearls to air dry before putting them away.

•Dirty pearls can be cleaned with a mild soap and water solution (try Ivory flakes).

•Never clean your pearls with solutions that contain ammonia or harsh detergents.

•Don’t put pearl jewelry in an ultrasonic cleaner.

•Don’t use abrasive cleaners or rub pearls with abrasive cloth. Both can wear away the nacre coating, leaving you with a plain looking bead.

Q: Pearl jewelry, actually, necklace q?
So wanted to say necklace but the dumb relation to the sexually derived term”pearl necklace” is why i don’t wear mine. I have seen a couple friends wear theirs out sometimes. So i think it should be fine. Everytime I think of wearing it though, (it’s a one strand, 16-17′ basic oblong freshwater pearl necklace, my bro got in from Vietnam for me,) and I do really think it’s cute, but haTe that dumb thought/association!! anyone else has seen it on girls when going out (not old ladies:p or brides!) ThX:)

A: Don’t worry! No one will associate you with the other “pearl necklace!” I wear pearls from my grandmother because they are a classic piece of jewelry. They go great with cashmere sweaters and blouses. Your necklace sounds beautiful!
Q: Where can I buy blue pearl jewelry?
I love the color blue, and I want to get some pearl jewelry, where can I buy a necklace, bracelet, and earrings, that are pearls and blue? Can I get them at A Target, or Walmart? How much can I buy them for?

A: You can buy it from http://www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=UTF8&keywords=blue%20pearl&tag=189-20&index=jewelry&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325

Q: Bridesmaid gift pearl jewelry?
I am trying to decide a bridesmaid gift for my 5 bridesmaids. I was thinking pearl (or fake pearl) necklaces and earrings. I would like to stay under 30 dollars.

Does anyone know a place or website where I could find this sort of thing? The maid of honor would need clip on earrings.

A: I did this for my wedding… but I wish I would have gotten them from JTV! (jewelery television.com) It would have been so much less and I LOVE their jewelery. Here is a link to just one example of what you can get that is great quality for not a lot of money. Good luck

Q: How do I tell my husband I don’t want any more pearl necklaces?
My husband’s recently got into the habit of giving me pearl necklaces.

The first one was a real surprise, but he’s now given me 17 in the last month and it’s getting totally out of hand. My jewellery box is overflowing and it’s not like I can wear more than one at the same time.

It’s obviously a matter of pride that he’s able to provide for me this way, but should I start dropping hints I want some diamond earrings instead?

A: Don’t hint. tell him straight. Something along the lines of “Darling, I love the necklaces you have given me, but I would like to move to a different style. Do you think I would look good in diamonds?”

Q: What would you like to ask?Is it ok to wear pearl jewellery for my south indian wedding over a kanjivaram sari?
Is it ok to wear pearl jewellery for my south indian wedding over a kanjivaram sari?
I am getting married in the mangalorean south indian way. Is it ok to wear pearl necklaces, earrings and mangtika..with orange and bright pink kanjivaram sarees. Or is it necessary to wear gold.

A: Look, if the saree is having some white border in it, then pearl will look awesome. And if some golden work has been done then, try wearing gold. That’s what I can say. Have a happy wedding.

Q: What are the characteristics of a pearl that’s good quality?
I just bought this pearl necklace because I like the color (it’s a pink/peach color).
A: The quality – and thus, the value – of a pearl is measured according to a combination of several different factors: the type of pearl, the thickness of its nacre, its luster, the cleanliness and texture of its surface, its shape, its color, and its size.

A: Hey congratulations .Ancient tradition states that pearls symbolize tears.so i wouldnt suggest you starting off ur wedding on such a sad note.besides pearls will look very tacky with kanjivaram sarees.go in for sum beautifully crafted gold jewellery.if ur saree is very modern go in for modern gold patterns if not go traditional.watever u do.enjoy ur wedding..lots of luv steffi

Q: Is mother of pearl jewelry for grannies?
I like this necklace but I’m not sure if its something suited better for grandmothers. What do you think?

A: No, but pearls are cheap and thus easily afforded by those on fixed incomes, so yeah.

Q: Does 5-6mm akoya pearl necklace suppose to have cracks on them?
I bought this new 18″ 5-6mm akoya pearl necklace and I’ve noticed some have cracks on the pearls. Is that normal? Anyone knows?

A: That means the nacre is thin in the areas and will eventually flake off. I would return them.

Q: I have bought in China an akoya pearl necklace £ 950. Valued in London for £5000. Where can I sell it?

A: Jewellers or e-bay.

Q: How much money can I get for my necklace?
I have a brand new Akoya Pearl Necklace. Its 17 inches and has a 14 kt gold clasp. Where could I sell it and how much could I get for it?
Thanks

A: prob not much, pearls are not worth too much, just keep it, you’ll appreciate it later

Q: Pearl necklace question?
Sorry this is long!

I wanted to buy my fiancee a pearl necklace for Christmas to wear for our wedding. I really don’t know much about pearls but tried to research a little online. I decided I would buy a 16 inch FRESHWATER cultured pearl necklace (7.5-8mm) for $339 on USAA.com. I never saw a size comparison in person, as it was online, but after going to Reeds, I realized the 7.5-8mm pearls would be too big.

Anyway, in Reeds, we looked at a different necklace – a 16 inch AKOYA cultured pearl necklace (6-6.5mm) for $449. We were in there looking for wedding bands as well, and after the manager offered us a deal if we’d buy both bands and the necklace, we got the AKOYA cultured pearl necklace for $360.

Just for comparison purposes, a FRESHWATER cultured pearl necklace (6-6.5mm) on USAA is $149 and an AKOYA cultured pearl necklace (6-6.5mm) on USAA is $1,095.

The reason I’m asking is because USAA is usually very good on price, so how is it the AKOYA is $700 less at Reeds?

A: The price of an akoya pearl necklace is dependent on many factors. Pearls are much like diamonds in that the higher the quality, the higher the price. There are several quality factors.
Luster
The reflection from the pearl surface is the most important factor. The sharper the reflection the higher the luster.

Surface
The cleaner the surface, the more valuable the pearl.

Nacre
When buying akoya pearls it is IMPERATIVE to determine whether the nacre is thin or thick. The nacre is the “pearl” part of the pearl. It is the coating on the bead that was inserted into the oyster to create the pearl. Thin nacre will show as chalkiness in the pearl, or as cracks around the drill hole. These pearls will not last longer than a year or two before the nacre will rub off and the pearls will be destroyed.

Color
Akoya pearls are most preferred white with silver or rose overtones.

Matching
The pearls should match across as the strand drapes from the neck.

The finest grade of akoya pearl would be hanadama. Hanadama is Japanese for “spherical flower” and is a grade established by the Pearl Science Laboratory of Tokyo, Japan. These pearls have the highest luster and cleanest surface.

http://www.pearlparadise.com/Hanadama-Akoya.htm

Jewelry store pricing of pearls can vary as widely as the pearls themselves to. One of the major reasons is sourcing. There is no single dominating source for pearls as there is for diamonds (DeBeers). This means there is no rapaport price list that jewelers or wholesalers can use to determine what a fair price is. This means that one seller of pearls may have a better supplier than another. Some may sell on memo and be locked into high prices. Others may buy material in Asia and pay as little as 10% of another seller.

If you really want to learn about what you purchased and why prices vary as they do, take some time to visit Pearl-Guide.com’s forum.

Q: Pearl Necklace question?
One of my very best friends is getting married. She would really like to wear pearls for her wedding and I am going to buy her some as her gift. I’m a little daunted when doing online shopping as to what I need to be looking for. I want a good quality pearl but I have no idea if thats akoya or cultured yadda yadda yadda. The millimeters are also daunting. What size millimeter is appropriate. Shes a slim girl who has the vintage silent movie era good looks to her so large pearls would never do. Please someone help!

A: Try these websites:

http://www.ehow.com/how_3399_buy-pearls.html

http://www.ehow.com/how_4479109_select-pearls.html

Q: mixing “real” and “fake” pearls..?
Okay, so the plan was to wear my akoya pearl necklace and matching earrings with my wedding dress, so I didn’t budget for jewelry.

I decided at my last fitting, that with my hair down, I may need a little “more” than just a stud earring.

I have a pair of really pretty “fake” pearl earrings that have very small CZ leading down to a drop pearl, the same color as the pearls in my necklace.

They look nice, not cheesy or plastic.

Is it wrong to wear the fake ones while I have a matching pair sitting in my jewelry box?

I’ve worn the studs numerous times, they were a present from my fiance and I love them.. I just don’t know if they fit what I need for this day.

A: Oh yeah, mix ‘em together!

My necklace was from claires, yeah, but it did actually look nice (but you’re lucky to have a real necklace). I had a pair of real pearl earrings that my mother gave me, plus I had a fake pearlish necklace w/ locket that I used to tie my bouquet (in memory of my grandparents).

So yeah, mix it up, it’s totally fine. As long as they don’t look like the plastic pearls you get in the kid’s beading department at Michael’s, I think you’re good.

Q: Need help on Valentines Day Present for my honey bunny.. ?
Tiffany’s Elisa Peretti’s Pearl Neckl or Blueniles.com’s Akoya Pearl Necklace??? Which should i Buy????

A: I’d go with the first one, way prettier and it looks way more elegant to me.

Q: antique akoya pearls???
I have gotten a restrung about 16inch, antique silver clasp, akoya 1940’s necklace. i really have no use for it. but price ranges i’ve seen run from $950-$2000. I dont know what to charge???
they are in amazing condition, and recently restrung by a jewler, the antique clasp is still on the necklace as well, there very shiney, have not cracks, and mach up on the necklace perfectly.

A: Take it to a jeweler and have it appraised. Base your price according to the estimated value of your strand.

Q: I just purchased a set of pearls how do I know their value and quality.?
It is a very nice set of ear rings and matching 18 inch necklace they are claimed to be Japanese akoya salt water cultured pearls.
How do I know for sure of the value and if I made a good buy.

A: Before you buy jewelry you need to trust your jeweler. Typically most jeweler enjoy teaching customers what to look for. After a while you begin to know what is good and what is junk. Also you need to establish a relationship with small jeweler. Chain stores tend to try to slip less than quality merchandise inder the radar.

Q: I have bought in China an akoya pearl necklace £ 950. Valued in London for £5000. Where can I sell it?

A: to the guy that valued it,

Q: I have bought in China an akoya pearl necklace £ 950. Valued in London for £5000. Where can I sell it?

A: Sell your pearl necklace on MarketWall:

http://marketwall.com/

MarketWall is free. You can sell the necklace to somebody in your area so you won’t have to bother with P&P. Include a good picture of the necklace and you’ll get more interested buyers.

Flaunt it!

Q: Is a pearl necklace a girls favorite jewelry item?

A: protein shakes for breakfast are yummy also.

Q: How do you store your pearl necklace and earrings?
Do you keep them in the white box that they came in? Do you place them on display? If so, how? Are they in your jewelry box? I just received pearl necklace and earrings for my wedding anniversary from my husband and don’t know where to place them. I have 2 jewelry boxes.

A: You can keep them in the packaging they came in, or a clean dry fragrance free pouch of some sort, but do not throw them into a jewelry box where they will rub against any other type of jewelry. The key to taking care of pearls is that they are the last thing you put on, after all creams, hair sprays and perfume, and the first thing you take off. Getting any type of lotions, perfumes, chemicals on them will destroy the nacre (coating on the outside) Pearls are fragile, so treat them more carefully than other jewelry when storing them. Do not use any type of chemical to clean them, only a slightly moist soft towel, but chances are they won’t need anything. If you wear them a lot it will be a good idea to get them restrung every 5 years or so. this will keep the silk cord clean and strong.

Q: Jewelry poll: I was thinking about getting a pearl necklace tonight – What would be a reasonable price 2 pay?

A: ha you made me smile. thats a good one!
but.. He should be paying you to give you a peral necklace.
Crackin me up how many people dont get this.

hahaha emily’s response made me laugh!

Q: Where can I buy blue pearl jewelry?
I love the color blue, and I want to get some pearl jewelry, where can I buy a necklace, bracelet, and earrings, that are pearls and blue? Can I get them at A Target, or Walmart? How much can I buy them for?

A: You can buy it from http://www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=UTF8&keywords=blue%20pearl&tag=189-20&index=jewelry&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325

Q: How much would REAL pearl earrings and a REAL pearl necklace cost?
I have a pair of real pearl earrings, the backs are 14kt gold. I also have a real pearl necklace with probably about 36-40 pearls on the strand, and a 14kt gold clasp. I am trying to sell them for as much as possible. What is a reasonable asking price for this beautiful *AUTHENTIC* jewelry? I have never worn them so they are in perfect condition.

A: It depends on the size of the pearls and length of the necklace. You could sell your necklace for anywhere from $174-$609! And for your pearl earrings, you also could be making another $50 or more on them. Check out this website for more information on pearl necklaces and earrings http://www.pearlnecklacesource.com/

Q: I Like Jewelry & Want To Know…What Is A “Spray On” Pearl Necklace ?
My BF is hinting that he really wants to give me one….

A: well, I’ve given many a pearl necklace in my day…….but never chocolate colored.

I’d have to see a doctor about THAT! Knock wood……that’s never happened…….

Q: How to divide a black and white pearl necklace Puzzle!?!?
Find the solution for the following: Two robbers steal a valuable necklace of black and white pearls. There are even numbers of white and black pearls in the necklace. The pearls are evenly spaced, however, the colors are not necessarily alternating or even symmetric.

Provide a convincing argument that no matter what the necklace looks like, it is always possible to cut it into two pieces each having half the black and half the white pearls.

A: consider a vertical diametrical cut AB [imaginary]
from top to bottom in between beads

let us focus on one colour, say white pearls and on one half,
say clockwise between A & B [ THE half ]

suppose THE half contains less than half the white pearls
it is obvious that if the imaginary cut is rotated through 180°,
THE half will now contain more than half the white pearls

rotate the cut clockwise bead by bead [ a MOVE]

a MOVE may result in
(a) no change [ 0 decrease in deficit]
(b) an increase in deficit [ -1 decrease in deficit]
(c) a decrease in deficit [ 1 decrease in deficit]

one MOVE can reduce the deficit by a MAXIMUM of one,
so it follows that in moving from a deficit state to a surplus state,
there has to be a cut where there is neither deficit nor surplus

make the imaginary cut real at this point !

Q: What style of clothing should i be wearing with black pearl earrings and necklace?
I got black pearl earrings and necklace for christmas, they are beautiful. I am very casual, stay at home mom, sweats and t-shirts, yes in a rut…but what style of clothes should i be wearing with these pearls? do you wear them daily? or do they stay in their case and wait for special occasions?

A: Take a look here, there may be what you want.(Free Shipping Now ! ! !)

A: Well i was going to say Tiffany’s but you don’t want to spend much…try Macy’s or JC Penney.

Q: pirates of the caribbean black pearl necklace???
I was looking in some magazine for teens I believe it was the June/July issue of Cosmogirl and I there was a spread for products and one was a necklace with a pirates of the caribbean the black pearl ship pendant. I cannot find anywhere that sells it! I cant even remember the name of the website it said. Can anyone help me out?

A: I can’t find the ship one but try the link below…

Q: I’m looking into buying a black pearl necklace for my wife, anyone know of a good one to buy?

A: Here is one:

http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=221831&CategoryID=569&LinkType=EverGreen

Macys is a great place they have nice variety for a simple department store.

Q: Suggestions: Black Pearl necklace?
I have a beautiful Black Pearl necklace, but NO IDEA what to wear it with. Any suggestions?

A: any dark colors…… a regular pearl necklace goes with anything

Q: Black pearl necklace from Cozumel , Mexico???
I have a necklace that I got while in Mexico in 2005. I was led to believe that they were REAL black pearls. Im not big on jewelry so I never questioned it. Here recently my husband was looking at them and asked why I was keeping them…I told him it was cuz they were the only REAL piece of jewelry I had. He proceeds to tell me that they arn’t real and laughs at me saying I got ripped off ….so now I’m wondering how do I figure out if they are real or fake cuz I don’t want to hang on to them if they arn’t!!!! They are just a short strand of black “pearls” with a lobster claw hook and a small gap in between each one…(if that helps anyone)

A: I would say if you purchased what you were told to be a “Black Pearl Necklace”, it is most likely a fake. The Black Pearl is only cultured in the South Pacific. It isn’t the “South Pacific pearl” (that is another type) it is known as the “Black Tahitian pearl”. They aren’t quite as rare as they once were, but yet they are mostly purchased in the French Polynesia. There are other places I’m sure that have them, but then they would have been imported there. Without seeing it of course I’m not sure, but I do highly doubt that what you purchased are real black pearls. Unfortunately you most likely did in fact get ripped off. Just because it isn’t real though, I mean if you DO like it – then keep it!

Q: Anybody know anything about black pearl necklaces?
I am thinking about buying my gf a black pearl necklace, does anyone know anything about picking them?

A: yes, Tahitian pearls are the best and most expensive, but u can get cheaper dyed ones at jc Penny’s. it all depends on how much u want to spend. thay should be heavy and smooth when u rub them against your teeth. ck out web sites about gems thay should tell you more.

Q: If one receives a black pearl necklace…?
Is there something wrong?

A: uh yea.
don’t put in your mouth who knows what you’ll catch

Q: Find the solution for the following: Two robbers steal a valuable necklace of black and white pearls.?
There are even numbers of white and black pearls in the necklace. The pearls are evenly spaced, however, the colors are not necessarily alternating or even symmetric.

A: something is missing in your question

take eg. this sequence of b and w pearls
there are 12 w and 12 black pearls ieven nos.in this sequence

wwbbwwbbwwbbwwbbwwbbwwbb

and I cut it like this
wwbbwwbbwwb

6 w and 5 b

bwwbbwwbbwwbb
6w and 7 b
in both pieces the b and w are not half
i think you should mention cut into 2 half pieces

Q: Pearl Necklace Turn Neck Black?
I almost never wear necklace of any kind. Just for fun, I found this pearl necklace I had for the past 2yrs and put it on for couple of days. Then I got a black line around the front of my neck where the necklace sat. Is it the fault of the necklace or just because it hasn’t been worn for a while?

A: It could be either. If the pearls are fake, they might. Fake or cheap gold can make your skin green, so it might be the same with other jewelry. It might also just be dirty from never wearing it. I think you should get it cleaned and then try again. If it still turns your neck black, it might be time for a new necklace. Hope this helped!

Q: Black or White Pearl Necklace??
I want to buy my gf a pearl necklace, should I get her a classic white one or take a chance with a black one? and also where would be a good place to buy it at?

A: Depends on the type of girl she is. If she’s more of a classic style i’d go for the traditional pearls. also these are multi function. she can wear them with anything. The black ones are a little more daring. I’d probally go with the white though just because they have more of a function. You can buy them anywhere. A good department store like JCpenny or Sears, or any Jewely store will carry them in differnt lengths and styles

Q: Is it wrong to pawn a pearl necklace I got from my ex?
I hate his guts and I’m embarrassed to even admit I dated him. The necklace was supposedly expensive, but there’s no way I’m keeping it and its way too late to send it back. Should I feel guilty about selling it? The necklace is made of black pearls and I’ve never worn it.

Plus, do i pawn it, ebay it, re-gift it???

A: Get it appraised and if its really worth anything, try ebay!

No shame in that.

I say get rid of it and make some money too!

Q: When I was in Asia I saw necklaces advertised as cultured pearl necklaces but the pearls were an inch?
in diameter, so could this be true? They were not too expensive but I can’t remember how much now. Maybe $50. But a lot cheaper than regular size pearl necklaces in the jewellers in Australia. I heard you can tell by sucking them and feeling the unevenness of the coating, but you can hardly do that while the shop assistant is watching. How big can pearls be before you know they are fake?

A: The size you describe is when you know they’re fake, oh and the $50 price tag would be another tip off I would think.

A: Why don’t you buy a necklace with a heart pendant. A heart design is very romantic for Valentine’s Day because it is the universal symbol of love.

Q: Free pearl necklace is it safe?
Hey, Found this great offer online for a pearl necklace totes free. check it out. I am not sure if I trust it wat do u think. Would u get it?
http://www.stauer.com/item/5.5-6mm-Cultured-Pearl-Necklace-18%22/17068
I’m osrry but I am 13.9! there is no way I can afford to pay $150 for a necklace!

A: there will be the old shipping handling charge added. plus pay via credit cards. when item arrives. will be of very very poor quality. the shipping handling will be tyree times the actual value of this item. it is a scam, sad thing legal. word of advice from old person. if it seems to good to be true. it isn’t. avoid if possible. it is not worth it.

Q: are cultured pearls considered real pearls and can they also be pricecy?
also, are cultured pearls suppose to be evenly symmetrical or round? I got a cultured pearl necklace but I noticed that not all the pearls are evenly round.

A: if you want to know if they are real bite down on them hard when you release your mouth if there are any bite mark or paint chips they are fake and all jewelery is expensive f it is not fake

Q: Tiffany’s necklace or pearl necklace for the GF?
OK she used to have a fake tiffanys bracelet and necklace, she has lost them both. I bought her a real tiffany’s bracelet for her birthday. I’m now thinking of getting her a real tiffanys necklace for christmas, but from other girls opinions I have learned she might rather have pearls! I have found a very nice 6mm cultured pearl necklace with a heart in it that would look very nice on her but I don’t know which to get her! We have been dating 10months if you must know. THANKS

A: I would’ve said Tiffany’s necklace to go with the bracelet…but,
If the girls’ opinions are those of her close friends… I would listen to them as she is probably telling them her preference.

Q: Where can i sell my pearl necklace/earring/bracelet set?
they are cultured pearls about 3/4 i believe they where a gift and i hate pearls and currently looking for their paper work

A: Ebay is the safest places right now. Signing up is free. check them out.
mx

Q: What are the characteristics of a pearl that’s good quality?
I just bought this pearl necklace because I like the color (it’s a pink/peach color). But when I look closely at home, some pearls have marks or the surface is not even. Is it ok for cultured pearls to have marks on them? What do you look for when buying pearl jewelry? What is a reasonable price for a good quality pearl necklace that’s about 18-20 inches long and the pearl size is 7-8mm?

A: The quality – and thus, the value – of a pearl is measured according to a combination of several different factors: the type of pearl, the thickness of its nacre, its luster, the cleanliness and texture of its surface, its shape, its color, and its size.

Pearls are one of the few organic gemstones. It is the only gemstone that has been grown inside a living organism. A pearl is a unique gemstone because in its natural state–without any polishing, cutting or other manipulation–it shows it full beauty, gloss and luster.

You will find certain surface abberations on any pearl because it is an organic thing. A strand of finely matched, unblemished cultured pearls would run you in the thousands of dollars.

Luckily, the production of freshwater pearls has greatly improved and expanded–we are now able to find affordable pearls in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors.

Click on the link below to read further about pearls.

If you are concerned about the quality/value of the pearls you purchased, take it to at least two different jewelry stores for appraisals. Always have your jewelry appraised by at least two unrelated jewelry appraisers.

Good luck.

Q: What are freshwater cultured pearls?
Are they much cheaper or something? As in, people say pearl necklaces are expensive but… would freshwater cultured pearls be considered more on the cheap, fake end? I know they are real, but…

A: Freshwater pearls are formed in mussels in freshwater. Cultured pearls (usually just called ‘pearls’) are formed in oysters in saltwater.

Natural pearls are found occasionally in both oysters and mussels.

Cultured pearls have been farmed since the early 19th century.

Freshwater pearls have only been farmed for the last 20-30 years and only in the last 15 or so has it become a huge industry. Oysters can only grow a pearl or two at a time, wheareas a mussel can grow up to 60 pearls at a time. Mussels are more likely to produce pearls whereas figures suggest only 25% of oysters farmed for pearls produce cultured pearls.

Cultured pearls are made by inserting a small bead into the oyster. This ‘irritant’ is dealt with by the oyster by rolling it around and coating it with nacre. Freshwater pearls are made by inserting a small piece of tissue from another mussel – once again this acts as an irritant and the mussel rolls it around coating it with nacre.

Both types of pearls are composed of nacre. Both have varying quality, colours and shapes. Both can have wonderful lustre and orient. Both can have poor quality pearls too! The only difference is the host (oyster/mussel) and the environment (saltwater/freshwater)

It can be virtually impossible for even professionals to tell the two apart.

Q: I have some pearl necklaces. What is the best way to sell them when I don’t know if they are cultured, etc?

A: take themn to a jeweller. They will be able to tell you what they are. then have a look around at similar pearl necklaces to get an idea of price. THEN sell!

Q: What name would you give your website selling handmade accessories?
Handmade accessories such as beaded, swarovski crystals, cultured pearls necklace; chokers; watches; rings; bracelets; etc.

A: Hand Jobs? Its catchy, no?

Q: Am I the only girl who doesn’t like accessories?
The only jewelry I wear is a cultured pearl necklace and a purity ring; never anything else. I carry a small blue tote bag for books (school), and a small Coach purse (authentic) for purse-stuff.

I just do not like shopping for belts and necklaces at all. But I am by NO means a tomboy.

Am I the only girl who feels this way? Same thing for shoes. I have a few shoes for each occasion that they are necessary; nothing more. I don’t know what it is.

A: i think you are! i need a girl like you lol!

Q: Where can I buy cheap pearl necklaces for my bridesmaids?
I need to buy 6 necklaces for my bridesmaids. I want something with pearls, and I would prefer to buy a pearl drop type necklace. The only thing is that they have to be between $10-15. If you have any suggestions please let me know!

A: You can buy them from http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Fs%3Fie%3DUTF8%26rs%3D3367581%26high-price%3D15%26x%3D8%26ref%255F%3Dsr%255Fnr%255Fp%255F36%255Fpr%26keywords%3Dpearl%2520necklace%26low-price%3D0%26y%3D10%26qid%3D1241184479%26rh%3Di%253Aaps%252Ck%253Apearl%2520necklace%252Ci%253Ajewelry%252Cn%253A3367581%252Cn%253A%25213880591&tag=189-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

Q: Any ideas on where to get illusion pearl necklaces?
Im giving my bridesmaids matching illusion pearl and crystal necklaces but I have only found one I like. Any suggestions?
I have 1 maid of honor, 3 bridesmaids and a jr bridesmaid. I also want to get a matching necklacee for the flower girl. So thats 6 necklaces all together.

A: ive found this one (you can change the colours)

http://www.micheledawn.co.uk/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=204

this ones more expensive but pretty

http://www.rosellepearls.co.uk/product.php?productid=99

or there’s this one

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Oi-Ladies-White-Crystal-Necklace/dp/B000UX4LBQ

Q: What are some famous quotes about Pearls and Pearl necklaces?
I am looking for famous quotes about pearls and pearl necklaces. They should generally relate to fashion, culture, and timelessness.

A: ‘Moderation is the silken string running through the pearl chain of all virtues’ -Joseph Hall

‘Like Orient pearls at random strung’ -William Jones

‘Why is it that men can be b.a.s.t.a.r.d.s. and woman must wear pearls and smile’ -Lynn Hecht Schafren

‘No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies’ -Bible quotes

‘Wearing pearls gives me an air of refinement’ -Kyoko Fukada

‘All art is autobiographical; the pearl is the oyster’s autobiography’ -Frederico Fellini

‘Rich honesty dwells like a miser, sir, in a poor house; as a pearl in your foul oyster’ -William Shakespeare
Some good ones you can also check the website
www.thinkexist.com

Q: Does Canal Street in NY sell replica Chanel pearl necklaces?
I want to buy a replica Chanel pearl necklace for my friend (she doesn’t want me to spend a lot of money on the real one) and I want to know if Canal Street in NY sells them. Has anyone seen them there?
And please, do not tell me that counterfeiting is wrong and that I am supporting criminal activity. I am aware it is wrong, but she asked for it for her birthday, so please just answer my question!

A: umm i dont know but i do know they selll purses.
but i went to a flea market and there was so much chanel stuff
and other designer stuff too. like necklaces, purses, rings, sunglasses

so yeah try checking a flea market maybeee.

Q: Does anyone know why pearl necklaces usually have a different type of clasp to other necklaces?
The pearl necklaces I own and have seen for sale have a (usally ornate) clasp that pushes and clicks into place instead of the usual ring type.

A: Real pearls are heavier and costlier, which is why the clasp needs to be more secure. You can tell if the pearls are real or not (or of better quality) just by looking at how it was stranded. Necklaces with good pearls are usually made by strong multi-strand fibers and individually knotted (there is a secure knot between each pearl to prevent lost pearls in case the strand broke). The clasp is usually made of silver/gold-plated goldfish hooks. The modern version may use strong tiger tail wires.

I always thought pearls looked great with antique clasps.

Q: Is there any jeweler that sells beautiful triple strand graduated pearl necklaces in Ohio?
I am trying to find a triple strand graduated pearl necklace for my wedding but very few places seem to have what I am looking for. I am very picky, so not just anything will do.

A: I would start calling around and making trips to local pearl jewelers in and around your area.

I typed in “Ohio pearl jewelers” into the Yahoo search engine and came up with plenty of starting points.

Good luck.

http://search.yahoo.com/search?&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8&p=Ohio+pearl+jewelers

Q: Can a bride and bridesmaids all wear pearl necklaces and earrings?
I want to wear pearl jewellery, and would like all the bridesmaids and flowergirls to as well.I am just wondering if this is ok,and can they all look the same or does mine have to be slightly different then the others?

A: In my opinion, pearls are always elegant and beautiful for a wedding. If you want to have your bridesmaids use pearls that should be great! And remember that , in the end, it’s your wedding! so you can do as you please! Just enjoy it!
Good Luck and congrats!

Q: Info on buying pearl necklaces?
I am planning on buying a pearl necklace for my girlfriend. Is there any important info I should know before purchasing?

A: To check if a pearl is real, you rub it against your teeth, and if it feels gritty its real, if its smooth then its fake!.

Q: Where did my husband get the money to give all my friends pearl necklaces?
He’s just been giving them out like crazy. He is so generous and thoughtful but I’m wondering if he has some money stashed away that he’s not telling me about. Everyday he comes home and tells me another story about how he made another one of my friends happy. How much does a necklace like that cost anyhow?

A: Your friends are working the expense, er, off for him…

And do you know it took me years (YEARS!) to figure out what that song meant? I would sing it whenever I heard it and then about a year and a half ago I was sitting at work and it came on the radio. So, as I have always done, I started singing along. Then BAM! It hit me what they were alluding to. I turned 7 shades of red and skunked off to the ladies’s room where I was seriously contemplating staying, I don’t know, forever! I wondered why my boss gave me an odd look when I proclaimed, quite loudly, I LOVE THIS SONG! “….Wanna pearl necklace!….”
Jesus, I’m an idiot. lol

Q: what pearl necklaces should i get for my bridesmaids as a gift to wear at my wedding?
this is what i am wearing
http://www.davidsbridal.com/accessory_detail.jsp?stid=1870&prodgroup=163
i wanted to get them something simpler but nice too. Any suggestions what kind i should get them? and should maid of honor have dif one?

A: Maybe something like this:
http://www.davidsbridal.com/accessory_detail.jsp?stid=3284&prodgroup=164
http://www.davidsbridal.com/accessory_detail.jsp?stid=2746&prodgroup=164

http://www.davidsbridal.com/accessory_detail.jsp?stid=3020&prodgroup=164

You could just have them wear the same one but if you an your Maid of honour to wear something different (depends on if she has a different dress i guess) maybe this:

http://www.davidsbridal.com/accessory_detail.jsp?stid=3285&prodgroup=164

All the best!

Q: Can you please tell me which is the best beading wire/thread for making fresh water pearl necklaces?
I dont like a stiff look, I need something durable and strong!

A: Silk is considered one the best. Nylon is also good. But there are some new materials available that beaders have been experimenting with.

Check out this page on Pearl-Guide.com. It discusses several types of thread.

http://www.pearl-guide.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1594

Q: Does my husband need a Phu Quoc permit to sell Pearl Necklaces out of his trunk on the beach?
Rubber Ducky – I had to *come* back here for one last *ride*…Bari was SO depressing. I’m thinking that if we open shop globally we might have better luck than just being tourists…I dunno…
Awe, TRIXIE, that kinda takes away from some of the fun of it, doesn’t it?

A: How in the heck is he going to get his truck there? I must admit that Phu Quoc was very interesting and the fish oil rubs were something to die for.
I feel he would have better luck with a small wooden cart. The rich tourist would feel sorry for him and not haggle the price.

Q: pearl necklace?
My wife wants a pearl necklace for x’mas, and I have no idea what to look for when it comes to pearls. What are the best places to buy from in San Francisco? Any and all suggestions are appreciated!!

A: First, do your research before heading out. There are many types and styles of pearl jewelry available and the educated buyer will always get the better deal.

Freshwater Pearls
These are typically the least expensive variety of cultured pearl. Most freshwater pearls you see will be off round to baroque, and the luster will be medium. There are high-end freshwater pearls like “freshadama” or gem grade, but these are difficult to find. Most boutiques carry very low-end freshwater pearls for as little as a few dollars per strand.

http://www.pearl-guide.com/freshwater-pearls.shtml

Akoya Pearls
These are the classic, white, round cultured pearls that you will find at the higher-end jewelry stores. The luster of a quality akoya strand will be bright and reflective. But learn what to look for in an akoya strand before going out to buy one. If the pearls do not have adequate nacre (the pearl layering over the mother of pearl nucleus) the pearls will not last. Look for cracking around the drill hole and any chalkiness.

http://www.pearl-guide.com/akoya-pearls.shtml

Tahitian Pearls
These are the exotic dark pearls also known as black South Sea pearls. They are typically large and can be very expensive. The surface, shape, size and luster all play a part in value.

http://www.pearl-guide.com/black-tahitian-pearls.shtml

South Sea pearls
These are the most expensive of all cultured pearls. The highest-end strands can cost more than $1 million. Mikimoto in Beverly Hills, for example, currently has a strand of South Sea pearls selling for $1.6 million.

http://www.pearl-guide.com/south-sea-pearls.shtml

Before venturing out do some online research at vendor sites around the web. Pearl-Guide.com is an excellent source of information, but you can price different types of pearls out and learn about quality by visiting retail Web sites. Of course online prices will be much lower than in a brick and mortar jewelry store.

Check a few of the following:
PearlParadise.com
PearlsofJoy.com
ThePearlOutlet.com
PurePearls.com
BeMyPearl.com

Q: Pearl Necklace?
I want to give my partner a pearl necklace – What’s the best way to give it to her? Should I let her unwrap it, or should I just give it ti her straight away?

A: surprise her and give it to her from behind

Q: Pearl necklace…………………………………………..?
My husband always tells me he’s going to give they best pearl necklace I have ever seen but he never bought me one and has just ejaculating around my neck for months now why is he not buying me the necklace like he promises?
how can i make him finally buy the necklace for me?

A: Sorry to tell you this, but “Pearl necklace” is a sex term that refers to a man ejaculating on someones neck! You can probably find a lot of these sex terms on line. However, if you really want your husband to buy you a real pearl necklace. Look him in the eye and say “I want a real pearl necklace from a fine store!”

Q: What type of pearl necklace should I buy?
I have decided that I want to purchase a nice pearl necklace that will be passed down for generation. I don’t know much about good brands or what type of pearl I should look for. Can anyone make any suggestions?

A: gee some people really do have big decisions to make in their life.

Q: How can I tell if my pearl necklace is real or not?
I received a ‘pearl’ necklace for Christmas one year from a doctor I worked for. I never knew it if was real or not, but the necklace is heavy and the ‘pearls’ feel cold when I put the necklace on. Does anyone know how to tell if pearls are real or not? Thanks!

A: Want to know if you’ve got the real thing? Rub the strand across the front of your upper teeth. It may sound strange, but according to Learn2.com, real pearls will feel rough or gritty while fake ones will feel smooth. This is due to the micropores found on the genuine article.
Imitation pearls are usually made by dipping a glass or plastic bead into a solution of fish scales. The coating is generally fairly thin and will chip over time. Check the pearls for tiny chips or flakes near the hole drilled through them. If you see chips, chances are your pearls are fake.

Try holding the pearls in your hand for a minute. HowToEverything.com states that real pearls will feel cold initially, then will warm.

Real pearls can be either natural or cultured. Natural pearls are formed when a mollusk secretes a substance called nacre to coat an irritant that makes its way inside the animal’s shell. Cultured pearls are formed with a little human help — an irritant is purposely introduced into the shell of the animal. You usually need an x-ray or an expert to distinguish between natural and cultured pearls

Q: How can I dress down a pearl necklace?
I got a pearl necklace for a gift. Its really pretty, but I dont really have that many fancy places to go where I would need to wear pearls.

What else could I wear with them that I wouldnt have to get all dressed up?

A: I have some fake pearls, and I usually wear it with an outfit like this one:
http://www.fredericks.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=Holiday2002&category%5Fname=Lingerie-Ultra+Sexy&product%5Fid=91387
It’s an easy way to dress them down.

Q: would a pearl necklace be a suitable Christmas present for a woman?
Hi Im Sid.
I have been wondering what to surprise my wife with this Christmas and have decided on a pearl necklace,Imagine her face when I present her with her gift, I think she will lap it up.

A: Alright Sid, stick with the ironing board…

Q: How much should I expect to pay for a pearl necklace in general?
I have been given a $150 gift certificate to a local big box jewlery store and I want to buy a classic strand pearl necklace (just like coco!). I want them to be off white and quite long so that I can wear them as if they were a double strand necklace if I want. (you know like wraping them around once instead of wearing them long)

A: if you ask how much you can’t afford it

Q: How Can I Tell If My Pearl Necklace Is REAL?
I got a pearl necklace for Christmas, but I dont know if it’s real.
It came in this cute red box, the store was having an anniversary, but thats all I can tell.

Oh yeah, and the clasp is gold and it has a cute design on it.

^_^

Any physical features that might let me know that the necklace is real pearls?

A: Take it to a jeweler that sells pearls and ask them if it’s real.

Q: What can you wear with a pearl necklace?
I got a pearl necklace for christmas. And, will be buying pearl earrings from forever21 but, what can i wear with it?

A: Anything, basically!
Make sure part of your chest (not necessarily cleavage) is showing.
A scooping neckline and pearls are always in style.

Q: How did my brother give his girlfriend a pearl necklace?
My brother said he gave his gf a pearl necklace, but he doesnt work. I’m afraid he might be stealing things again. He took my video games a few months ago and sold them.

A: If he’s stolen in the past, he is inclined to again in the future, especially if he hasn’t changed his ways. Be sure he’s really referring to an actual pearl necklace or just one that looks like pearls but isn’t, because those are inexpensive. Also, a pearl necklace is a sexual act and it sounds like it could be in reference to that very much as well.

You should get that video game money back. Just be really mad about it to the point where you can make him back down.

Q: How do I know if a pearl necklace is good or not?
I’m wanting to buy a pearl necklace for my girlfriends 21st birthday, but I have no idea what would be the best I can get for around £150 – £200? Like what quality etc. I can expect for that price?
I didn’t mean how to check if they’re real, I meant like how many karat I can expect for that price etc.

A: It’s not so much the carat you can get for that price. It’s more the quality. You will look for Freshwater Pearls, but quite a good quality with next to no blemishes and good lustre. If you go for white ones, you can expect near white for that price, also just about round and maybe 8 or so mm in diameter, plus a sterling or gold clasp. I would also look for a necklace that has knots between the pearls.
