ACoRA awards Title XX funds to community-based organizations that align with the following five priorities explained in our Integrated Strategic Plan.

 
  1. Promote Employment and Commercial Invest Opportunities
  2.  Promote Safe and Livable Communities
  3. Increase Opportunities for Residents to Achieve Self Sufficiency
  4. Promote Adequate, Affordable Housing for All
  5. Support Comprehensive, Corridor-Oriented Neighborhood Revitalization

 

 

Recent Grant Awards

The following communities and programs have received funding for the ongoing revitalization and enhancement of their neighborhoods:

 

 

Greater Vine City Opportunities Program
  • The English Avenue School located at 627 English Avenue slated to be converted to the English Avenue Community Campus that will provide intergenerational programming, training and cultural enrichment activities for the entire community to enjoy.

      Grant Award: $1,000,000 

 

  • Title XX funds were used to acquire four lots (657, 661, 665 and 669) on Jones Avenue N.W. totaling more than half an acre.  These lots would be used to develop a pocket park that could be expanded by acquiring adjacent lots.  The project would extend from the corner of Jones Avenue and Elm Street to the corner of Jones and Sunset avenues.

      Grant Award: $300,000

 

Title XX funds will be use to support three programs that serve over 100 young people. 

  • The “Young Achievers Program After-School” project provides up to 35 elementary and middle school students, ages 7 to 14, with tutorial assistance in math and science. The program operates September thru June and serves 30 to 35 youth. Tutorial assistance is also complemented by career planning and entrepreneurship activities that are provided each Tuesday and Thursday, respectively. This program operates from the Bellwood Boys and Girls Club, 777 Donald Lee Hollowell Drive, Atlanta, Georgia 30318.

 

  • The “Saturday Enrichment Program” provides 20 youth with instruction and training in basic physical fitness and health wellness on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon, June through August.  This program is held at the Cosmopolitan A.M.E Church, 170 Vine Street, N.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30314.
 
  • The “Math & Science Summer Program” offers youth the opportunity to apply the math and science concepts introduced during the “Young Achievers Program After-School” project. For six weeks up to 60 youth meet once a week on Wednesdays or Saturdays from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.  The curriculum is structured and offers a variety of activities such as kits to build replica helicopters, cars, telephones, etc.  This program operates from the Cosmopolitan A.M.E Church at 170 Vine Street, N.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30314.
       Grant Award: $108,932.11
