Q: Why is gold jewelry not acceptable in business attire? Why are companies against gold chains and bracelets?
Business attire for men.

A: There is an unwritten dress code for businessmen, and wearing too many gold bracelets and chains, or other jewelry, is not a part of it.

The expression, dress for success, does not mean that wearing gold chains and bracelets is a barometer of how successful you are. On the contrary, if a man wears gold chains and bracelets along with business attire, it usually gives the perception that he is flashy, has a need to show off, and that he is more involved in street culture than in business meetings.

If you are representing a company, you are expected to show professionalism with co-workers and with customers. How you look, act, and dress does have an impact on the image of the company you work for.

Certain pieces of jewelry is acceptable for work, such as a ring and watch. This is not to say that you can’t wear other jewelry, but don’t overdo it. Respect the wishes of your company. You will have plenty of time to wear your jewelry after work and on your days off.

Q: Why is gold jewelry not acceptable in business attire? Some suits are more expensive than gold chains.?
Why isn’t appropriate to wear a gold chain and gold bracelet with my business suit?

Why are companies against it?

A: It depends on the industry you are in.

If you want to succeed in a bank dress very very conservatively — regardless of whether you are male or female.

If you want to succeed in the fashion industry avant garde clothing and lots of jewelry are fine — .regardless of whether you are male or female.

Hope this helps

Q: Where can I buy dull matted gold color jewelry chain in bulk?
I have looked everywhere online to find this dull matted gold chain and all I can find is bright and very shiny bulk chain. I need to know the type of metal it is, or what finish is that’s put on the base metal please. Any type is fine.

A: https://www.artbeads.com is a great wholesaler of chain. I use a ton of their products and LOVE them! free standard shipping too!!

Q: difference between 14k gold plated and 14k gold filled chains?
hi, i’ll like to ask what’s the difference between 14k gold plated and 14k gold filled. (in terms of costume jewellery gold chains) are they the same?

also, at an estimate, how much can i buy them for?

A: 14k plated, means there is an electro thin plating of 14k gold. Therefore, the core that has the plating is a base metal or alloy (i.e. copper, etc.) Over time it can “chip” and wear down to the base metal.

14k filled means that it has more 14k content and is mixed with another metal (often copper). It is if they are “mixed” together aka filled.

So they are quite different.

Gold is at it’s most right now and filled is much more expensive overall. It costs more, but if its something you want to keep for a while…totally worth it.

Q: What does it mean when KOREA is stamped on “gold” chains and jewelry?
Obviously, I know it is from Korea, but there’s no identifying what the metal is.

A: Made in Korea, perhaps?

Q: Really nice gold jewelry that is not broken, but I want to sell it. Where should I go?
I never wear gold jewelry but I have some expensive and nice gold chains, rings with diamond and other gems, and watches. Since I really only wear white gold or silver I want to make some cash from my jewelry. It is not broken, scratched or worn.

Where would be the best place to go to sell it? Online, local store, or other suggestions!
Also, is this a good time to sell gold?

A: Before selling your jewelry make sure that you do research on the company before you choose to go with them. There are a lot of scams out there and even more places that will rip you off. One of the most reputable and honest companies I have ever come across is Empire Gold Buyers and I would highly recommend that you check them out. I know many people, including myself, that have used them and I have always heard great things. Best of luck

Q: How and where do you get the best price for broken gold jewelry?
I have several broken gold chains, bracelets, dental gold, and mismatched earrings and would like to get cash for the gold. I know I could take it to a pawn broker, but I’m not sure if this is the best way to turn the gold into cash. Any ideas?

A: If you choose to sell your gold as scrap, please do not use one of the outfits that advertise on TV–they will not give you the best price because they are marketing their services to the general public and not to in-the-trade individuals who are more knowledgeable.

Send your gold to a reputable refiner. There are several who offer refining services to the jewelry, dental, etc. industries and that is where you would get the fairest shake for your scrap.

I’ve used David H. Fell & Co. in Los Angeles for years. They are a very reputable company with a good history and a well set-up refining service. See the link below.

If you sold your scrap gold to a jeweler, they would turn around and submit it to just such a refiner. A reputable jeweler would not reuse your gold because he would not be able to determine that it was within the legal variance limits of the karat value it was represented/hallmarked as. He would instead turn it into a refiner either for money or on account to be reimbursed with newly refined gold. Obviously, the price the jeweler would pay you would be less than what he received from the refiner.

Q: What does 291V and 750 markings on a gold chain mean? Jewelry?
I have an old gold box chain from Italy. The markings on it say 291V and 750 very small. I’m used to seeing like 14k. What do these markings mean?

A: It just means it is real gold.

Q: I bought this jewelry cleaner from wall mart but it made my gold feel funny and smell weird?
I purchased a gold jewelry cleaner for like 5 dollars. However i cleaned my gold chain and charm with it and followed the direction’s correctly. However my chain feels almost as if its sticky and i washed it several times to get that feeling away but i cant. Also it gave the chain a funny smell. Really need some advice how to fix this issue?

A: soak your jewellery in a little warm water with washing up liquid in it….leave for half an hour & like the other answer says…clean it gently with an old toothbrush – this will bring it up lovely.

rinse in clear warm water & dry it….you don’t need other cleaners – they are a con!

Q: Where can I get gold-filled chain and other jewelry findings in New York City?
I know there is a whole district in NYC where you can find jewelry making supplies, but can anyone suggest specific shops where I might find gold-filled chain, wire, jumprings, sheet metal, etc.

Sterling silver is easy to find, but I’m having trouble finding gold-filled. Most of the shops selling jewelry making materials are tucked away in buildings, and not on street level. Any help would be appreciated!

A: Why wasting time and money in physically going to these shops while you could order online everything?

My favorite online supplier is Pasternak Findings: http://www.pasternakfindings.com (check for the gold filled section therein). They have great products at very decent prices and top service.
Check also with http://riogrande.com
http://firemountaingems.com/
http://www.metalliferous.com/ (Btw, they are in NYC)
Good luck!

Q: Where can you buy fly jewelry and necklaces?
In my high school I always see girls with fly gold jewelry & chains & i wonder wear i can get one without spending alot.

A: Like fake bling? They sell them in mall kiosks sometimes.

Q: Can you plate a silver piece of jewelry to make it gold?
I have an emotionally valuable pin that is silver. I want to have it turned into a charm on a bracelet, but I don’t wear silver jewelry, so I was hoping it was possible to plate it with gold and then put in on a gold chain. Is that possible?

A: Silver plated with gold is called “vermeil” (ver-MAY). You’d probably want to talk to a local jeweler about having your pin plated.

Q: Where can I find regular gold-toned Jewelry chain (not online)?
I don’t want to shop online because I only need a little, and combined with shipping price, it’s totally not worth it unless you buy it in bulk. I was wondering if it’s normal to find it in craft stores.

I just want to find normal, fashion-jewelry chain. Help is very much appreciated. :)

A: Most craft stores do carry it, in their beading/jewelry department. You may also find it in some fabric stores.

Q: So am shopping on Ebay and had a question .. has anyone ever bought HSN GOLD jewelry?
I saw a gold chain that i really liked on Ebay .. but the seller says that she bought it off HSN and that it is not solid gold… its technibond quality gold… but i dont now the difference.. i dont mind that it isnt solid gold but just to now if it looks to ‘fake’ or like costume jewelry.. i want to avoid that… tks!

A: It doesn’t matter what the seller says about the item. If you really like the chain, then first look at the seller’s history of things. What’s their percentage rate of satisfaction, how many stars did people give them in the past. You always have to be careful with Ebay, things may seem good, but what happenes if there was a loophole that you didn’t know about.
