I have a necklace with a very thin chain. The knot started out very small, and the more I tried to untangle it the bigger it got! No I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions?

A: This can take a lot of patience. I do a couple of things. I try to gently roll the knot between my fingers and see if I can loosen it a bit. Then, I use something like a safety pin or earring and put it through the loosened knot and gently pull it apart. Good luck!

A: Look for a silver chain that has some oxidation on it. That tones down the shiny factor, but still looks very classy. The oxidation is there purposely, it’s not that the necklace is inferior or anything.

A: Drop it in ammonia is the best way. (window cleaner usually works too since its ammonia based.)

Cola really does work, but make sure and use a diet coke or it will get sticky.

Tooth paste and baking soda also work but they will scratch the gold if its a polished finish.

A: They have shops inside the mall that do this for you. most jewelry shops do it. I don’t think its expensive.. probably less than 10 dollars. i dont think you should do it yourself, because you might break the tool and harm yourself.
